The Tempest at Banks road.

Last night Gill and I were invited along to see The Tempest performed by a group of year six students at Banks Road Primary.

The performance was absolutely brilliant. I have never been a great fan of Shakespeare but I was well and truly drawn into the story last night by a great bunch of budding thespians.

Well done Banks Road. :-)

Life has been a little too hectic just of late so it was good to walk in the park today and smell the roses.

Hectic few days

Had a busy few days. On Saturday I was involved in a community litter pick and car wash , the highlight of which was Yvonne's carrot and coriander soup.
In the evening Gill and I dined out with Ste & Tracey at the restaurant where Anna is now working : The Tavern on Smithdown road.
Sunday we welcomed Joan Adams from Morning Star Ministries. A day care centre in South Africa that cares for children with AIDS. Both Joan and her friend Glenys stayed with us on Sunday night.
Last night our small group trundled along Otterspool Promenade for a couple of miles before settling in to a huge roast dinner at the Brittania carvery
Great few days and as usual food has featured quite highly. Sadly though in all of this excitement I forgot to take some pics :-(

All our yesterdays ......

Today I met up with an old mate of mine Brian . We were at Liverpool Polytechnic together many many moons ago and I hadn't seen him for 16 years . He is still as ugly as ever ;-) and it was good to see that he has more grey hairs than me although unlike me he has managed to keep slim ...

It was wonderful to meet up with him and reminisce ...great fella and by all accounts his three daughters are a credit to him . Forgot to take a picture but then again its probably a good thing, I wouldn't want to frighten off my readers ;-)

Hope to see you again soon Brian .....

Healing our Land

Last night I took part in a multi-church event held a Liverpool's Anglican cathedral.
It was called Healing our Land. A couple of thousand people coming together for prayer and worship. Great night.
The cathedral itself holds lots of happy memories for me having gone there with my mum every Christmas during my childhood and teenage years for the carol service. So last night was both uplifting and nostalgic. ......

First Sunday

Yesterday we all travelled back to Wem for the First Sunday service in Wem Town Hall.

The folk at Wem are great people and we really do miss them. It was great to worship with them yesterday and thank you to the Minton family for a very tasty roast lamb dinner :-)
Last night we were back at the Bridge I spoke on what it is to be a follower of Jesus Christ
A follower LISTENS to Jesus (John 10:1-5)
A follower LOVES Jesus ( John 21:15-19)
A follower is KEPT by Jesus (Psalm 121)

Have a great Bank Holiday :-)

Perfect day for a garden read

Today I managed to squeeze in a full days rest. The first in about three weeks.
I have had to resist the urge to prepare for a number of preaching and teaching engagements this week.
It is so important to seek nourishment for my own soul just glad to be reading Andrew Murray on Prayer in the sun. Brilliant.
Also managed to go for a walk along the prom with our Rob.Ended up at the Albert dock for a bite to eat. Good times :-)
Also managed to secure some tickets for Thursday nights semi- final. Great day so far.

Post Passion Party.

Last night The Bridge played host to 270 young people for The Post Passion Party.

A worship event aimed at bringing church youth groups together.
It was a tremendous success. The music was brilliant ,6 of our students coming together to form a band for the night and they were a real blessing.
Wem YPF provided a very powerful drama that nearly moved Bill Bygroves to tears.

Great , memorable night. I will have to start planning the next one :-)

Reflections :-)

Tonight I looked back through some pics taken over the last 10 years. Its been wonderful to have known so many people.People who I have laughed and cried and prayed with. Its been wonderful to watch my girls grow up and it has been wonderful to share the years with Gill.

But you can't help feeling sad. People who you have known and loved just aren't around anymore.

Tomorrow Jane and I will be taking my mums ashes up to Sefton park to spread them amongst the daffodils. The same place that we took my dad to a couple of years ago.

A melancholy moment tonight :-(

Scouts parade.

Yesterday I was the guest speaker at the Allerton district Scouts Own service. It was the last ever as Allerton district is now merging to become South Liverpool District. Not that you will be bothered with the details !

Anyway after the service I lined up alongside the Mayor of Liverpool to take the salute from approx 500 scouts. It was a little weird given that 30 years ago I was one of the scouts who paraded.

Strange experience and very nostalgic.
