Visit to Oadby Evangelical..Good Day

Good day over in Leicester today visiting Adam at Oadby Evangelical ..Phil as usual has his photograph smile on :-)

Great morning with the Cabinet ...

We had a cabinet war room meeting this morning :-) ...An elders and deacons meeting . It was great , there is a real unity of purpose amongst the team long may it continue .

3 years on the loo .....

According to this article in the Daily Mail we spend on average 3 years of our lives on the toilet ..so you might as well have one with a decent view ;-)

A Pastors Breakfast ...& Reunited with the Canadians.

Went over to Northwich for a meeting with Alistair ( Pastor of Emmanuel) . He did us proud with his cooking skills ..wonderful breakfast apart from the bacon ;-) Met up with the mob from Canada again ..It was good to see them all again .

Wonderful Sabbath days rest ...

Had a great day off today in the glorious spring sunshine . Gill & I walked Chester around Colemere . It was all very tranquil and then this evening we had a meal with Les & Cathy in Liverpool . Feeling very rested :-)

Spring Sunshine

I have had a chance to sit in the garden today reading . It's great to be able to enjoy the fresh air . Springtime has got to be my favourite time of the year ... It's full to the brim of new beginnings .

Sunday at WBC was great , both services blessed by a real sense of God being amongst his people . If you get a chance to listen to the messages then you can download them from the Web ..the link is over on the right of my page .

I had an email from a lady in Kentucky ( USA) who had been listening to one of my sermons , she said she loved my Scottish accent :-) . I will have to start wearing a kilt in the pulpit from now on !

Laura was 14 last Sunday

Great day on Sunday ..celebrated Laura being 14 years young ... Grannie & Gramps , Anna ,Nathan & Dan & katie ...all joined in and got stuck in to the two big pans of scouse that I had cooked .
It was also a good day because Gill returned home in one piece from her skiing trip :-)

Family lost their dad ..church lost their Pastor .

Please pray for the Winters family . Dad the pastor of the church was shot dead whilst preaching on Sunday in the States . Mark Driscoll writes about it here .

Soon we will all be wearing bullet proof vests :-(

Making Scouse

I am making a couple of large pans of "Scouse" tonight ready for tomorrows dinner ...lots of friends and family around for Laura's birthday and this is the perfect hassle free dish ...

Missing her ..

Well Gill has been away for a whole week now and I have to admit that I am really missing her :-) . Roll on Sunday . The girls have been great though and surprisingly grumpy old dad has been remarkably placid this week .Gill had anticipated that world war three would break out whilst she was away but no , peace reigns .... anyway I'm off to do some vacuum cleaning now :-)..

Tired ..

I think the Canadian team have taken it out of me... I am shattered . But then again I have covered a fare few miles today ..Shrewsbury , Birmingham , Liverpool. Anna is home tonight trying to heal a broken heart :-( .

Gill is in Aosta skiing with the school and by all accounts ,via her text messaging ,she is having a great time .

Busy day with the Mounties !!

The Day began with prayer and then on to Newtown school ...Phil and I were a bit naughty with the Headmaster :-)Then it was on To Adcote School for Girls .The group loved the venue ..a typical English public school .

Finally we finished up at Baschurch School ..

Tabitha & Joanna have come tos stay ;-)

Tabitha and Joanna are part of the Canadian team and they are staying with us for the week ...poor girls they will need therapy at the end of the week ;-)
Anyway Tabitha quickly caught up with her emails ....
Joanna serenaded us with Debussy on the piano ...she is an excellent pianist .

The Canadians have landed in Wem

We are privileged to welcome our Christian friends from Canada this week . They are a group of young people from Venture Teams International and they will be helping us out as we hold various evangelistic activities this week ...welcome guys ...

Katie Is 17 !!!

Katie celebrated 17 years on Friday with a driving lesson in a mini and a home baked cake :-)

An Engagement love story ..girls you will like this ..

This week we stayed over in Liverpool and witnessed the romantic event of the century ..Rob & Amy's engagement ..

Amy had been waiting and waiting and waiting for months for Rob to get his act together and ask the question ,anyway on Monday the big day finally arrived .
Rob & Amy have just bought our old family home in Liverpool and they are in the middle of ripping it apart !! bringing it into the 21st century , so Amy thought she was coming around on Monday night to do some more work on it ....but our Rob had other ideas !!!!

He had , with a little help from his family prepared one of the rooms for the big question .

The lighting was right , the music was right , the suprise was right and she said yes ... in fact I think she screamed when he got down on one knee !! see I told you that you would like this story girls ....
Later on that night the suprises continued for Amy . The whole family had got together at Amy's family home for an impromtu celebration ... Great day

Take The Love Test ...

In our house group last night we studied the Apostle Paul's definition of Love in 1Corinthians 13 :4-7... He was speaking to a church at Corinth that had its problems ,people falling out with each other etc ... nothing changes there then :-)

Anyway he said if you don't have love then your just a clanging gong ...all noise and no substance , no heart ... So last night my small group took the love test according to the passage . I gave them a working definition ( according to the original Greek) of each of the elements of biblical love in the passage and asked them to score themselves on a scale of 1-9 ..and if they were really brave, get someone they trust who knows them well to also score them and then compare notes !!!

So here they are have fun :-) ...If you are like me then you will feel really beaten up after this exercise especially if your wife does the scoring !!!! :-)

REJOICES IN THE TRUTH … Takes delight in God's truth , delights in seeing and doing good .

Snow again and loud screams !!

Well it snowed again and yes the girl's wish came true ...no School today !! When radio Shropshire announced the good news Katie & Laura screamed with delight :-) ...and then it was off out with their mates for snow frolics ..

Meanwhile I was in mourning after last nights football result ;-( ..I cant even type it out I am that upset .. As you can see from the picture of Chester taken during the game , it wasn't exactly a thrill a minute and then the result was even less thrilling !! But I suppose life goes on :-)

Snow ...

Well the snow was forecast and it dutifully arrived last night but sadly not in the bucket fulls that Gill & the kids were hoping for . So they had to go to School :-) There is hope though , more snow is forecast so the headmaster might send them home early .
