Dad's date day with Nana in tow !

Every once in a while I take each of my girls out for a date day or a date night . We call it the DDN ( Dad's Date Night). Its a good time to spend a few hours with each of my daughters individually.



Wednesday is my day off so I took the opportunity to take Katie out but on the way to our date we took Nana out for lunch which is always an experience :-) . Nana wanted to go to Parkgate and after lunch she had to have her ice cream .. Mint choc -chip and vanilla her favourite combination ... After a couple of hours we managed to dispatch Nana back to her home on the Wirral and then off we went to Katie's chosen destination ...Manchester Airport Viewing Gallery . It was a throwback to her childhood when we would go as a family to watch the planes .. It was great . Since we were last there ( about 7 years ago ) they have added Concorde to the gallery . Superb aircraft.
It was then on to the Trafford Centre for Starbucks and The Odeon Cinema . Hancock was the chosen film ...great film ..Will Smith was brilliant .. I was once told by a Pastor friend of mine that part of a Dads role is to make happy memories for his kids . Well hopefully Katie has a few from today as has Nana with her MintChoc-Chip :-)

A day in the life ..with the new camera

I thought I would take the new camera out and about with me today so that you can see what I get up too when I'm not banging on from the pulpit :-)

Did a couple of assemblies this morning , firstly at Weston Lullingfields , a small ( 31 pupils) rural C of E school ..

And then on to West Felton ( 90 pupils I think ) . They have a wonderful carved tree in the playground ..thought you might like to see it ..

Then I went to the gym at Albrighton , on a Tuesday we sit down with the staff there and chat, its all part of our work place counselling ministry that we do here at Wem Baptist .

Later on Phil popped round for a diary round up and a time of prayer ...both of us are going our separate ways on holiday over the next four weeks ...so we wont see each other for a while :-) You know what they say absence makes the heart grow fonder .

Tonight I have an elders meeting and then the prayer meeting ..but I shan't be taking pics !!

And no she didn't turn in to a pumpkin at midnight ...

Sorry to all those who stop by every now and then ...just haven't been inclined to blog up lately . I will however endeavour to put this behind me and blog on !!

The last few weeks have been hectic as usual . Laszlo our Romanian trainee Pastor was with us for five weeks and now sadly he has had to return home to get married ;-) Here are some photo highlights of his visit to Wem.

Church Fellowship day at Adcote School

On Saturday, as a church, a good number of folk got together to enjoy a bit of fun and food together at Adcote School . It was a wonderful place to spend a few hours despite the drizzly rain ..

Anna Passed her driving test today..Well Done ....and no Anna your not getting a car for Christmas !!

Prom Girl...Number 2

Well it was Katies turn for the prom on Friday ( Anna two years ago ...how time flys) ...Katie eventually settled on the dress and beautiful she looked in it to ;-)

Man Pain :-)

This morning Phil and I met at the crack of dawn for our weekly raquetball & planning sessions .... unfortunately I managed to either bruise or pull my tendons in my right calf muscle ...AARGH

Feels like I have permanent cramp in my calf ....this is real man pain & if my family are reading this I will be expecting bucketfuls of sympathy and TLC over the next few day :-)

Cup Final at Goodison Park ..Ben's big moment

Ben ,my nephew played in a cup final at Everton's ground last night . He plays for Wirral boys and they were up against the mighty undefeated Liverpool boys .

Well I have to report that Liverpool boys still remain undefeated as they managed to beat Ben and his boys by 3-0 . Ben was gutted but there was no shame in defeat as they all played brilliantly . Well done Ben :-)

Hectic week

Sorry for not posting last week it was a bit manic . Lots of travelling too and fro to various venues and visiting folk . I was in Yorkshire on Sunday , Worcester on Tuesday, Leicester on Wednesday and Coventry on Friday ...ended up speaking in one form or another about nine times . So much for ministers working just one day a week :-)

Anyway this weeks diary looks a little less frenetic ...might even find the time to go to the gym !

Prom Dress Nightmare

On Saturday I went with Katie , Gill & Will Chapell to the Trafford Centre to buy Katie a dress for her leavers Prom . What an nightmare :-( I am so glad I took Will along ...we managed to find ourselves in the cinema watching a film whilst the girls slogged it out in the shops !!

Eventually after about 4hours of hunting she found a dress ...but now she is not sure ... It must be very stressful being a girl !!
