Probably not going to be blogging for a while as we are about to head over to the States for three weeks . If I get the chance I will log on somewhere and maybe post a few photo's ...

Playmates Wem's playgroup came for a visit today ..

From time to time Jenny brings her playgroup "Playmates"down to church ... We sing, we pray, we make things, we tell a Bible story, we play games and of course we have a cup of tea together !!

Where are they all hiding !

A Bonnie Welcome ..

Last night I travelled over to The Quinta in Oswestry to speak to a group of young folk from the Free Church Of Scotland . Anna & Ben came along and Anna gave her testimony . Quinta is special to her as she became a Christian there in 1999. The subject I had been given was taken from Mark's Gospel Chapter 16 v39 ..

And when the centurion who stood there in front of Jesus heard his cry and saw how he died,he said, " Surely this man was the Son of God "

All the guys listened well and it was good to spend time with the group.

And guys if you are reading this then keep in touch ...you have my email address . I will pray for you .

Had to Work for a living yesterday ..

With Phil being away I preached twice yesterday , morning and evening . I am not used to all this hard labour :-) All joking aside it was a good Lord's day and I trust that we were all encouraged as we met together ( Hebrews 10 :25)

I go on holiday at the end of this week but before that I have four speaking engagements so I must press on ..

Something I always look forward to ..

Saturday mornings are often the highlight of my week . A number of folk ( anything from 10-20 each week) have gathered at the church every Saturday morning for the last two years to pray for souls . These times of prayer are always special and always unhindered . The prayer flows with a passion for the lost . Come and join us 8am-9am every Saturday at the church . The meeting always finishes with a nice cup of tea and a couple of slices of toast . What more could you want .

Laura this morning pointed out that the first of this years sweet pea crop have flowered in our back garden . I must admit that I have grown very fond of this flower during my time in Wem .

Gill abandoned me again today to go to a ladies day with the women of our church . Ann Benton was the guest speaker and by all accounts it was a very blessed occasion . I guess that the tea & cake were an added bonus :-)

Also over the last few days I have been receiving texts messages from my sister Jane who has jetted off to Kefalonia in Greece , staying at a place called Lourdas ...

Dad's date day with Nana in tow !

Every once in a while I take each of my girls out for a date day or a date night . We call it the DDN ( Dad's Date Night). Its a good time to spend a few hours with each of my daughters individually.



Wednesday is my day off so I took the opportunity to take Katie out but on the way to our date we took Nana out for lunch which is always an experience :-) . Nana wanted to go to Parkgate and after lunch she had to have her ice cream .. Mint choc -chip and vanilla her favourite combination ... After a couple of hours we managed to dispatch Nana back to her home on the Wirral and then off we went to Katie's chosen destination ...Manchester Airport Viewing Gallery . It was a throwback to her childhood when we would go as a family to watch the planes .. It was great . Since we were last there ( about 7 years ago ) they have added Concorde to the gallery . Superb aircraft.
It was then on to the Trafford Centre for Starbucks and The Odeon Cinema . Hancock was the chosen film ...great film ..Will Smith was brilliant .. I was once told by a Pastor friend of mine that part of a Dads role is to make happy memories for his kids . Well hopefully Katie has a few from today as has Nana with her MintChoc-Chip :-)

A day in the life ..with the new camera

I thought I would take the new camera out and about with me today so that you can see what I get up too when I'm not banging on from the pulpit :-)

Did a couple of assemblies this morning , firstly at Weston Lullingfields , a small ( 31 pupils) rural C of E school ..

And then on to West Felton ( 90 pupils I think ) . They have a wonderful carved tree in the playground ..thought you might like to see it ..

Then I went to the gym at Albrighton , on a Tuesday we sit down with the staff there and chat, its all part of our work place counselling ministry that we do here at Wem Baptist .

Later on Phil popped round for a diary round up and a time of prayer ...both of us are going our separate ways on holiday over the next four weeks ...so we wont see each other for a while :-) You know what they say absence makes the heart grow fonder .

Tonight I have an elders meeting and then the prayer meeting ..but I shan't be taking pics !!
