Sunday lunch with Dick and Doris

Had a couple of older friends around for lunch today . Dick and I spent some time chatting about his exploits during ww2 . He was involved in the Normandy landings being a crewmember on one of the landing craft ferrying the infantry into battle . We also spent some time on the internet together and managed to track down a reference to his ship LCI291 . Dick, I know ,has many awful memories of those days , ones that he is understandably reluctant to share . At 18 years old he was plunged into a living nightmare, as were many his age . It is difficult for me to imagine what he must have experienced .
