Not Waving But Drowning

A few years back our nation voted this poem by Stevie Smith its 4th favourite

It obviously struck a chord with many ........In the busyness of life people are often drowning and we just don't see it ......The harassed mums, desperate teens , stressed out dads , ageing grans and Grandads ....Ordinary folk that are all around us who are drowning in their sense of emptiness , unfulfilment and loneliness.

Have a read the poem is very poignant ......

Not Waving but Drowning

Nobody heard him, the dead man,
But still he lay moaning:
I was much further out than you thought
And not waving but drowning.

Poor chap, he always loved larking
And now he's dead
It must have been too cold for him his heart gave way,
They said.

Oh, no no no, it was too cold always
(Still the dead one lay moaning)
I was much too far out all my life
And not waving but drowning.

If you are in that situation .....waving but drowning .......then read "this text" which tells of a God who knows your inner pain , a God who wants you to trust in his Son ,a God who will save you from drowning .
